The ideal GPA is above 2.70. One of the main reasons for this is that there are fewer faculties to apply to than at undergraduate level. Therefore, a student with a higher final grade has a better chance of being accepted. In exceptional cases, students with a GPA below 2.70 may be admitted to the Master's programme.

Bachelor's and Master's students wishing to study German in Germany must prove that they have reached the C1 level of German language proficiency. Students who do not have this level in their home country will be admitted with reservations.
In Germany, conditional admission refers to a situation in which admission to a particular Bachelor's or Master's programme depends on the fulfilment of certain conditions. These conditions are usually admission criteria such as language skills, academic performance or the completion of certain courses. For example, a student may be admitted to a Master's programme in Germany, but may be required to demonstrate a certain level of German language proficiency or to take certain preparatory courses. These requirements are usually listed in the letter of admission and must be met in order to complete the enrolment process. In other words, if the student fulfils these requirements, the admission is legally binding and the enrolment process is complete.
Students can start their Master's programme if they meet the requirements stated in the letter of admission. For further information, please contact our Student Advisory Service.
Yes, some universities in Germany may require an aptitude test when applying for a Master's programme. However, this may vary from university to university and from programme to programme.
