Germany is considered one of the countries with the highest quality of life in Europe. Getting training and work experience in a large European country is very important for career advancement. Voluntary service in Germany also offers additional benefits in many areas.
BFD stands for Bundesfreiwilligendienst. It enables people from the age of 16 to volunteer in an organisation in Germany for 6 to 18 months. The BFD is an ideal opportunity to get to know Germany and its culture and to develop a sense of social responsibility.

The aim of the BFD

How do I get to Germany to do a BFD ?
- BFD is offered by various organisations.
- You can find BFD opportunities on the internet or on the BFD website.
- An application form, a CV and a letter of motivation are usually required.
- German language skills are also required for some programmes.

- You will be allocated accommodation and a supervisor at the start of the programme.
- Volunteers on BFD programmes usually receive an allowance and pocket money.
